Selection for the 31st Antarctic expedition to the Akademik Vernadsky station has begun in Ukraine

The National Antarctic Science Center (NASC) has announced a competition to form the composition of the 31st Ukrainian Antarctic expedition, which will work at the Akademik Vernadskyi station in 2026-2027. About this reported in the press service of the National Academy of Sciences.
Specialists with appropriate qualifications, as well as those who “dream of working on the icy continent” and strive to contribute to the development of Ukrainian science, are invited to participate. As noted in the center, the composition of winterers usually includes about seven scientists and five representatives of the station’s life support team: engineering and technical staff, a doctor and a cook.
“The competition has no restrictions on age, gender or other characteristics. The main thing is education, experience, a high professional level and the ability to work in Antarctic conditions. The participants of the expedition are expected to undergo rigorous tests, hard work to ensure the operation of the station and professional performance of assigned duties.”, — added to NANC.
Applications for participation in the competition are accepted until August 13. The full list of requirements, stages of selection and the list of necessary documents are available on the official website of the center.
It will be recalled that on March 8, the 30th Ukrainian expedition headed by polar explorer and meteorologist Oleksandr Poludny left for Antarctica. At the beginning of April, the participants of the 29th expedition, which spent a year at the “Akademik Vernadskyi” station, returned to Ukraine. Their journey home lasted two weeks.
