The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv chose a preventive measure in the form of a personal commitment until August 20 for the head of the Anti-Corruption Center Vitaliy Shabunin. About this reported in the Anti-Corruption Center.
Among the duties assigned to Shabunin:
- to appear at the summons of an investigator, prosecutor or court;
- not to leave the place of service, except for the performance of official tasks;
- to refrain from communication with the employees of the National Security Agency, former commander Yushko and representatives of the unit;
- not to visit the premises of the NAKC;
- hand over a foreign passport.
At the last moment, the requirement to wear an electronic bracelet disappeared from the petition. During the hearing, the judge did not satisfy a number of defense requests. Judge Grechana refused to attach the interrogation protocols, which confirm that Shabunin performed a large amount of work on a business trip to the NAKC.
“You can talk a lot about the gaps in the investigation, but here is just one fact. During the two years of the SBI investigation, the leadership of the National Security Agency failed to question Vitaliy’s business trip. And Shabunin was never questioned before the suspicion was announced.” — noted in the Central Committee.
After the court hearing, Vitaly Shabunin confirmed his previously stated position, stressing that the criminal proceedings against him are an attempt to “show all whistleblowers” that “Zelensky and his team can do anything at any time.”
“In order to move towards a corrupt autocracy, it should be scary to expose corruption. This is a good example to show that this should not be done.” he emphasized.
We will remind, on July 11, employees of the SBI informed Vitaliy Shabunin about the suspicion. Before that, it became known that the SBI conducted searches at Shabunin’s place of service in the Chuguyiv district of the Kharkiv region and at his home address.
