The State Bureau of Investigation has completed the investigation into the former leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the dispersal of protesters during the Revolution of Dignity

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation completed pre-trial investigation in the case of the former leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the capital department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who are accused of organizing the violent suppression of peaceful protests in 2013-2014 during the Revolution of Dignity. The indictment has already been submitted to the court.
In January-February 2014, in Kyiv, Cherkasy, and Sumy, policemen, carrying out clearly criminal orders of the leadership, exceeded their authority, used violence against protest participants and passers-by, illegally detained people and prevented the exercise of the right to peaceful assembly. As a result of these actions, 117 people were injured.
The ex-minister of internal affairs, his deputy, the acting head of the capital department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and his deputy are accused of abuse of power, illegal detentions and obstruction of peaceful assemblies. Sanctions for the incriminated articles provide up to 15 years of imprisonment.
In addition, the former T.V.O. the head of the capital department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is suspected of collaborative activities, since in July 2023 he headed the illegally created “security service” in the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhzhia region and cooperated with the armed forces of the Russian Federation, thereby continuing anti-Ukrainian activities. This case once again emphasizes the importance of accountability for crimes against protesters and society in general.
