Ukraine will receive pickups and trucks worth €22 million as part of the demining coalition

The countries that are part of the coalition for capacity building in the field of demining have agreed on the purchase of pickup trucks and trucks for the amount of 22 million euros to provide the State Special Transport Service (DSST) and the Command of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (ZSU). Lithuania provides 15 million euros, and Sweden – 7 million euros.

During the meeting of coalition partners, which took place in the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik, a decision was made to purchase equipment to support Ukrainian demining units. In addition, the participants of the event discussed plans for the further development and strengthening of the capabilities of Ukrainian units engaged in demining.
The key topic of discussion was the Roadmap for the development of demining capabilities of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the period until 2034. This plan envisages the gradual strengthening of the resource base and the development of infrastructure to increase security on the territory of Ukraine. The initiative is aimed at long-term strengthening of material and technical support and personnel potential for the effective implementation of demining tasks in the long term.

More than 5,000 square kilometers of territory have already been demined in Ukraine. Since the beginning of the Russian armed aggression, state mine countermeasures operators have examined and cleared 5,308 square meters of explosives. km of Ukrainian lands. A non-technical survey was conducted in 59 territorial communities, and 235 sq. km recognized as potentially contaminated with explosive materials.
At the moment, humanitarian demining works are ongoing at 282 sites, the total area of which is 17.5 square meters. km Of them, 88 plots with an area of 7.23 square meters. km have already been transferred to local communities.
In addition, as part of the implementation of the Plan for the clearance of agricultural lands from explosive objects, 2,059 square meters were surveyed and demined. km, which made it possible to return these lands to productive use.
