Volodymyr Zelenskyy handed over the “Savior City” award to the mayor of Warsaw

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, presented the Mayor of the Polish capital, Rafal Tshaskovsky, with the “City-Saviour” award. About this informs Office of the President.
During his visit to Poland, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, announced that Warsaw would be awarded the honorary title of “City-Savior”. The relevant decree was signed by him on the eve of the trip. Zelenskyy personally presented this award to the mayor of Warsaw, Rafal Tszaskowski.
“The award was given to the capital of Poland for the demonstrated humanism, mercy and solidarity with the Ukrainian people, comprehensive assistance to Ukrainians who were forced to leave Ukraine due to Russian armed aggression, as well as for the strong support of our state in the defense of independence and sovereignty.” – the message says.
“Savior City” is an honorary award introduced by the President of Ukraine to honor the cities of foreign countries whose residents have shown humanity, mercy and solidarity with the Ukrainian people in the struggle for freedom, peace and democracy. It also recognizes Ukraine’s support in defending its independence and sovereignty in the face of Russian aggression. This award was established in May 2022.
Previously, the Polish cities of Rzeszów, Przemyśl, Lublin and Chelm received the title of “Rescuer City”. The President of Ukraine presented these awards during his official visit to Poland in April 2023.
