ЕС обеспечивает более 50% потребностей Украины в боеприпасах — Каллас

European countries provide more than half of Ukraine’s ammunition needs, which are estimated to be at least 2 million shells. This was stated by the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaya Callas, informs Reuters.

«Everything is progressing very well. We need to provide aid to Ukraine as soon as possible. President Zelenskyi said that they need 5 billion to have at least 2 million rounds of ammunition.» Kallas emphasized before the summit of defense ministers of the European Union, which began in Warsaw.

According to her, the EU already has a number of proposals, and various countries are making their contribution to meeting Ukraine’s needs, so at this moment more than 50% of the required amount of ammunition has already been collected. At the same time, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced that the alliance allies promised to allocate more than 20 billion euros for military support to Ukraine in the first three months of this year alone.

NATO foreign ministers will meet in Brussels on April 3 and 4 to discuss further steps to support Ukraine amid the full-scale Russian invasion, now in its third year.

According to data from the Kiel Institute, as of February, the total volume of aid from Europe significantly exceeded support from the United States. European countries provided Ukraine with 70 billion euros of financial and humanitarian aid and 62 billion euros of military aid. By comparison, the United States allocated 64 billion euros for military support and another 50 billion euros in financial and humanitarian allocations.
