President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi stated, that he is ready to leave his post if it leads to peace in Ukraine or ensures the country’s accession to NATO. «If there is peace for Ukraine, if you really need me to leave my post, then I am ready. The second story — I can change it to NATO, if there are such conditions. I say right away not to talk about it for a long time.», — emphasized Zelensky. He emphasized that he is focusing on Ukraine’s security «today, not in 20 years» and is not going to «be in power for a decade.» According to his conviction, membership in NATO will be the cheapest option for guaranteeing Ukraine’s security. «In any case, whether someone wanted it or not, supported this idea or not — this topic is on the table. And this topic will be on the table of security guarantees and negotiations. I don’t know how the negotiations will end, but in any format, in any case, it will be on the table. We will probably discuss it with our partners. And here it is very important that we all understand that this is not the negotiating table to which Ukraine is invited. This is our table, because there is a war in Ukraine. First of all, we invite our European leaders, because the war is in Ukraine, and we are an integral part of this continent — Europe, the future of the European Union.», the president noted.
Президент Украины Владимир Зеленский заявил, что готов покинуть свой пост, если это приведет к установлению мира в Украине или обеспечит вступление страны в НАТО.
«Если мир для Украины, если вам очень нужно, чтобы я покинул свой пост, то я готов. Вторая история – могу поменять это на НАТО, если есть такие условия. Сразу говорю, чтобы долго об этом не говорить», – подчеркнул Зеленский.
Он подчеркнул, что фокусируется на безопасности Украины «сегодня, а не через 20 лет» и не собирается «быть у власти десятилетия». По его убеждению, именно членство в НАТО станет самым дешевым вариантом обеспечения безопасности Украины.
«В любом случае, хотел бы это кто-то, или не хотел, поддерживал эту идею, или не поддерживал – на столе есть эта тема. И на столе гарантий безопасности и переговоров эта тема будет. Я не знаю, чем закончатся переговоры, но в любом формате, в любом случае на столе это будет.
И здесь очень важно, чтобы все понимали, что это не стол переговоров, за который приглашают Украину. Это наш стол, потому что война в Украине. Это мы приглашаем прежде всего наших европейских лидеров, потому что война в Украине, а мы часть неотъемлемой этого континента — Европы, будущего Европейского Союза», – отметил президент.
