The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said that of the $177 billion in military aid approved by the United States, Ukraine actually received $76 billion. That’s what he’s about stated in an interview with AssociatedPress.
Zelenskyi emphasized that although sums of 177 or even 200 billion dollars are often heard, Ukraine actually received only more than 75 billion, mostly in the form of weapons.
«That is, we never received 100 billion of these 177 (or even 200, some people say), this is important. We are talking about specific things, because we did not receive it with money, but with weapons — we received weapons for 70 or something billion.
But when they say that Ukraine received 200 billion during the war to support the army, this is not true. I don’t know where all this money is. Maybe it’s true on paper, there are hundreds of different programs — maybe, we’re not arguing, we’re very grateful for everything. But we got more than 70 billion — 76, something like that. It’s a lot of help, but it’s not 200 billion.» — he explained.
Speaking about humanitarian programs, Zelensky mentioned 200 million dollars for energy and hundreds of millions for medicine and crossing the border. He noted that the financing of these directions can be compensated by European support or internal resources. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of maintaining care for veterans and medicine.
Zelenskyi also noted that he did not know exactly how some of the humanitarian programs were used, and suggested that the US president could conduct an audit to clarify these issues.
