Over the past month, 11.7 billion hryvnias have been deposited into the special account opened by the National Bank to support the Armed Forces on February 24, 2022. This exceeds receipts for December 2024, which amounted to almost 11 billion hryvnias, and is a significant part of the total for the entire year 2024, when less than 16 billion hryvnias equivalent was collected. About this informs National Bank press office. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, more than 61.8 billion hryvnias have been transferred to the special account. As of February 1, 2025, the balance of funds in the NBU account amounted to 18.3 billion hryvnias. Donations came both from citizens and businesses of Ukraine, and from the international community, in particular from the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Switzerland, Norway, Australia, France, Canada, Bulgaria, Hong Kong and many other countries. More than 40.9 billion hryvnias equivalent in various currencies, including US dollars, euros, pounds sterling, Canadian dollars, Chinese renminbi, yen, Swiss francs, zlotys, and Australian dollars, came to the account from abroad. In total, since the beginning of the war, the National Bank has transferred almost 43.4 billion hryvnias from the special account for defense needs, of which in January 2025 — more than 5.4 billion hryvnias.

As of February 2025, the total amount of deposits of individuals, including individual entrepreneurs, in Ukrainian banks amounted to 1,392.2 billion hryvnias. About this reported press service of the Deposit Guarantee Fund of Individuals. During 2024, the volume of citizens’ deposits increased by 157.4 billion hryvnias, of which 110.6 billion hryvnias is real growth, not taking into account the revaluation of currency deposits in the hryvnia equivalent. At the beginning of 2025, deposits in the national currency reached 899.5 billion hryvnias, which is 103.1 billion more than a year earlier. Deposits in foreign currency grew to 492.7 billion hryvnias, having increased by 54.3 billion. The share of individual entrepreneurs in the structure of depositors is 3.2%, and their deposits are 12.1% of the total amount of deposits. The total volume of funds placed by FOP in banks reached 168.9 billion hryvnias, which is 19 billion more than last year. The Deposit Guarantee Fund reminded that from April 2022, during the period of martial law and three more months after its end, the state guarantees 100% reimbursement of deposits of individuals, including FOP. After this period, the maximum amount of guaranteed compensation will be 600,000 hryvnias.

Israeli warplanes attacked the facilities of the Islamist group «Hezbollah» and the underground tunnel of the militants, which connects the territory of Syria with Lebanon and is used by terrorists to smuggle weapons.
