Despite all the challenges of the war, Ukrainian families continue to give birth to children, giving new life even in the most difficult times. Babies who are born prematurely or with health problems are especially in need of high-quality medical care and rehabilitation. That is why ensuring proper care for such children is an extremely important aspect of Ukraine’s social policy. And although the war creates enormous difficulties, the country’s medical system continues to work, providing care to even the smallest patients.
In the Rivne region, an important step has been taken in the direction of supporting children who were born prematurely or have health problems. From now on, in the Rivne Regional Perinatal Center, they will be able to receive free medical rehabilitation during the first three years of life. This became possible thanks to the signing of the appropriate package of services between the institution and the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSHU). About this informed on Facebook of the regional perinatal center.
According to representatives of the perinatal center, within this package, children will have access to the necessary rehabilitation covered by the Medical Guarantee Program. This means that treatment and recovery for babies will be free of charge, and parents can have peace of mind about their future.
Medical rehabilitation of such children is a complex process that requires a complex approach and cooperation of various specialists. The perinatal center emphasizes three key principles of rehabilitation: early treatment, individual approach to each child and multidisciplinary interaction. A team of doctors, including neonatologists, pediatricians, rehabilitation specialists, neurologists, physiotherapists, speech therapists and psychologists, will work together to provide children with the best conditions for development. This will not only help babies adapt to life faster, but also increase their chances of a full, healthy future.
In order to receive rehabilitation, parents need to receive a referral from their family doctor for a consultation with a specialist in physical and rehabilitation medicine. After that, they can turn to the regional perinatal center for the necessary help. If the child is transferred from one institution to another or between units of the same medical institution, referral is not required.
The introduction of such initiatives is extremely important for Ukraine, as every child deserves quality medical care, regardless of the circumstances. Even in wartime, the state does not neglect the smallest citizens, and the efforts of doctors and the support of international organizations make it possible to provide free treatment and rehabilitation. This once again confirms that caring for children is one of the highest priorities of Ukrainian society.
