300,000 migrants every year: Spain changes migration policy

Minister of Migration of Spain Elma Sais stated, that thanks to the new rules of migration policy, the country will be able to legalize the status of approximately 300,000 illegal migrants annually over the next three years. This initiative is aimed at expanding the Spanish labor market.

Not so long ago, Spain developed a plan that would allow for the integration of about 300,000 migrants every year. This reform aims to solve the problem of a significant number of people living in the country without official documents.

According to Sais, Spain must choose between an open and prosperous country or a closed and poor one.  So you have to make a choice in favor of the first option.

She added that the country needs 250,000 to 300,000 foreign workers annually to support the social sphere. In addition to legalization, the reform provides for improving the qualifications of migrants and providing them with access to social services.

Earlier in October, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced measures to ease the integration process for skilled migrants, emphasizing the economic benefits of migration, even as other European countries tighten controls at their borders.
