French Foreign Minister calls on EU to impose sanctions on Elon Musk

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barro called on the European Commission to take tough measures against American billionaire Elon Musk for his interference in the internal affairs of European countries. About this informs Reuters.
“Either the European Commission applies with the utmost rigor the laws that exist to protect our unique space, or it does not, in which case it should consider returning the ability to do so back to the member states of the European Union, France.” – said the minister.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed concern about Musk’s interference in European politics. During a speech to French ambassadors, Macron, without naming Musk directly, noted that now the owners of large social networks can support international reactionary movements and even interfere in elections, in particular in Germany.
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Haar Støre has also expressed concern about Musk’s actions, and the German government has accused him of trying to influence the federal election. German government spokeswoman Christiane Hoffmann said that while Musk has the right to free speech, his statements raise serious doubts.
