A case worth 157 billion hryvnias against the chairman of the board of Poltava GOK was transferred to court

Prosecutors of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor’s Office sent an indictment to the court against the chairman of the board of the Poltava GZK and three other managers of the enterprise. About this reported press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The head of the board is accused of illegal mining, abuse of authority and legalization of property in a particularly large amount. His deputy and two heads of departments are suspected of legalizing property in a particularly large amount.

According to the investigation, the chairman of the board, acting together with other unidentified officials of the plant, organized an illegal mineral extraction scheme. The company, having a license only to extract iron ore, allegedly processed and sold other rocks obtained during the production process. These breeds, according to the law, had to be stored in special storage facilities, and a separate permit was required for their processing.

In the period from 2015 to 2021, according to prosecutors, more than 20 million cubic meters of minerals were illegally extracted, which is equal to approximately 164 thousand carloads. The amount of damage caused to the environment is estimated at over 157 billion hryvnias.

In addition, the plant’s management organized the legalization of mined minerals, using production facilities for processing rocks into crushed stone products of three fractions. The products were sold through the companies, while false data about the processing results were indicated in the reporting documentation.
