In the conditions of a fierce war, when every day brings new challenges, the statements of representatives of the state authorities acquire special weight. Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk in his interview He spoke to “Ukrainian News” on a number of important topics – from combat operations at the front to the internal policy of the Cabinet of Ministers and the activities of people’s deputies.
He also focused on the issues of taxation, which are becoming more and more urgent in the conditions of the economic crisis and the need to strengthen the country’s defense capabilities. His words emphasized the urgent need for effective coordination of all branches of government and mobilization of resources to achieve a stable future for Ukraine.
About taxes and their growth
“War is the largest consumer of funds in the state. Therefore, it is logical that financial resources should be replenished. At the same time, the money that comes to Ukraine from partners does not go to the war, but is used to ensure the functioning of the state and its citizens. Therefore, the government is forced to look for new ways filling the budget, and one of them is taxes. There are two options: slightly increase all taxes or significantly increase one, but with a high tax base”, – said Stefanchuk.
About the recall of deputies
“The recall of a people’s deputy is possible only in the cases defined by the Constitution. No public outcry can force the government to dismiss the deputy. However, there are two reasons that are not in the Constitution, but they should be added – push buttons and absenteeism. Practice shows that over time, many it is necessary to change the Constitution. This also applies to the grounds for depriving a People’s Deputy of his powers.” Stefanchuk said.
About Shmyhal’s resignation
“The change of Prime Minister Denys Shmygal during the war is illegal, and I do not support it. In my deep opinion, Denys Anatoliyovych is the best prime minister in the entire history of Ukraine. He is a technocrat and heads a technocratic government. He is always in place , is a workaholic in his field and very well understands the processes existing in the state,” said the speaker.
About Ukraine’s victory and negotiations
“Ukraine’s victory consists of three components, but they do not exclude negotiations and dialogue between the parties. The first is victory on the battlefield, of course. This is a victory that would allow us to restore territorial integrity. The second component is bringing the Russian Federation to legal responsibility according to the norms international law, which it so openly despises. And the third is to receive the necessary reparations for the war that the Russian Federation started in Ukraine. Our country needs to be ready for dialogue, because any wars end in negotiation processes.” – believes Stefanchuk.

“The American people support Ukraine, and the victory of Donald Trump should not be feared. We are clearly aware that the Republicans and Democrats are a reflection of the American people, just as the Verkhovna Rada is the choice of the Ukrainian people. Therefore, I know for sure that the American people support Ukraine. I I know that for sure.” Stefanchuk said.
