Air quality in Sumy region significantly deteriorated due to smog from Russia

In the Sumy region, a significant deterioration of air quality was recorded, residents are urged to close windows and limit their time outside. About this informs Sumy hydrometeorological center in its Telegram channel.

According to meteorologists, the deterioration of air quality in the eastern and northeastern regions of the country is caused by the movement of dust and smog from the territory of Russia. If the dust comes from the Caspian region, then the smog, experts say, is the result of large-scale forest fires in Russia. A mixture of dust and smog was brought to the territory of Ukraine by the southeast wind.

The highest concentration of harmful particles is currently observed in the Sumy, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk and Mykolaiv regions. Meteorologists recommend that residents of these regions limit their time outdoors and keep windows closed.

In addition, a dust storm has already covered some cities of Ukraine. Residents of Poltava, Dnipro and Kharkiv complain about the dust cloud that has been hanging in the air since night, significantly reducing visibility. Videos appear in local public places, where you can see how dust completely covers the horizon. In one of the videos, the woman says that she washed the car in the evening, but in the morning the car was already covered with a layer of dust.

According to data from the Windy service, the dust cloud is moving to Ukraine from the territories of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
