An employee of the Central Office of NABU who spied for the FSB was detained in Kyiv

The Prosecutor General’s Office and the Security Service of Ukraine, as a result of joint actions, exposed the fact of Russian special services infiltrating the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. In Kyiv detained an employee of the NABU Central Office, who, according to the investigation, worked for the FSB of Russia and was part of the particularly closed “D-2” unit.

The investigation established that the detainee’s supervisor was Dmytro Ivantsov, the former deputy head of Viktor Yanukovych’s security. In February 2014, he helped the then president escape to Russia, after which he stayed in Crimea, where he was recruited by the FSB.

The NABU employee, as established, was engaged in the collection and transmission of confidential information about Ukrainian law enforcement officers and other persons to the Russian special service. He obtained these data from closed databases of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies. At least 60 cases were documented when he gave the curator information with limited access and received money transfers to his bank card for it.

After recording the criminal activity, the employees of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the SBU detained the suspect. During the search, a phone and computer equipment were seized from him, which were used to make contacts with the Russian curator.

The detainee was charged with suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — part 1 of article 111 (treason) and part 3 of article 362 (unauthorized actions with information processed in computer systems, committed by a person with the right of access).
