At night, drones carried out a massive attack on the Rostov region and other regions of Russia

On the night of January 5, Russia suffered a massive attack by drones that struck five regions. The greatest activity was recorded in the Rostov region, where fires broke out as a result of drone raids, and residential buildings were damaged by debris.
Yury Slyusar, Acting Governor of the Rostov Region confirmed, that drones caused damage in Taganroza and the village of Novobessergenivka, Neklinivsky District. The debris damaged residential buildings, broke windows, damaged roofs and walls, and also hit several cars. According to the governor, there are no victims among the civilian population.
Slyusar also reported that the drones were destroyed in the Milleriv and Tarasiv districts. Despite this, local residents complain about loud explosions in Taganrog and Millerovo. Footage from the scene of the events appeared on social networks, suggesting that the military airfield in Millerovo could have been the target of the attack.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said that air defenses allegedly shot down 61 Ukrainian drones last night.
- 37 drones were destroyed over the Rostov region.
- 20 drones were shot down in Bryansk region.
- Two drones were eliminated in the Voronezh region.
- One drone each was destroyed in the Belgorod and Oryol regions.
We will remind, the previous night in the Smolensk region, a drone raid was also recorded. At that time, it was reported about the attack on the “Avangard” plant, which is engaged in the production of weapons. Anti-aircraft defenses were working there, trying to repulse the attack.
Massive night drone strikes caused significant material damage and increased the level of anxiety among the population. Although Russian officials claim that air defense is working effectively, the regularity of attacks and damage to infrastructure point to rising tensions in the border regions.
