At the meeting of the UN Security Council, the Chinese Foreign Minister stated three principles regarding the war in Ukraine

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on Russia and Ukraine to make peace and the protection of civilians a priority, making efforts to resume the negotiation process. He stated this during the meeting of the UN Security Council on September 24, which was broadcast on the organization’s official website.
Wang Yi presented China’s position based on three main principles. The first of them is the need to avoid further escalation of the war. The Chinese minister emphasized that it is unacceptable to use weapons of mass destruction or to strike nuclear facilities, such as nuclear power plants. Attacks on civilian infrastructure and the civilian population are also unacceptable.
“The more weapons that go to the battlefield, the more difficult it is to achieve the goal of a ceasefire”, – said Wang Yi.
The second principle is that dialogue and negotiations are the only way to resolve the conflict. The minister called on all parties to resolve the situation diplomatically, stressing the importance of peaceful initiatives.
The third principle concerns the need to contain the spread of the crisis beyond the borders of Ukraine, as its consequences have a negative impact on the global economy. Wang Yi emphasized that the international community should step up cooperation in areas such as energy, finance, trade, food security and protection of critical infrastructure, including oil and gas pipelines.
“The more weapons that go to the battlefield, the more difficult it is to achieve the goal of a ceasefire”, – said Wang Yi.
