Belarus creates new Special Operations Forces brigade near border with Ukraine

Belarus is forming a new brigade of Special Operations Forces, which will be stationed in the Gomel region, near the border with Ukraine. This was announced by the commander of the SSO of Belarus, Vadym Denysenko.
“A decision was made to strengthen the southern section in particular. Today, this is the most, so to speak, restless direction that keeps us all in good shape.” Denysenko noted.
Recently, Minsk has been intensifying the modernization of its armed forces, conducting joint maneuvers with Russia and Asian countries. In particular, the Zapad-2025 exercises organized by Russia and Belarus are scheduled for September. The Kremlin claims that these exercises are of a defensive nature and are aimed at responding in the event of aggression against the Union State.
At the same time, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi warned that such exercises could be a cover for the transfer of troops:
“That is, the visibility of exercises is the most acceptable way to relocate, transfer troops, concentrate on a certain direction and create groupings of troops.”
The Ministry of Defense of Belarus also said that the Zapad-2025 strategic exercises will be moved inland, away from the borders of the European Union, to reduce the concerns of neighboring states such as Poland and Lithuania.
