The Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine released a video styled after the popular game “S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl”, in which the head of military intelligence Kyrylo Budanov urges of the Russian military to surrender. The video was published in the Telegram channel of the “I want to live” state project, which helps Russian soldiers safely surrender to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The video begins with a scene where a Russian gamer complains about not knowing the Ukrainian language in the game while streaming. At this moment, Kyrylo Budanov appears on the screen and addresses the audience in Russian. His appeal is filled with sarcasm and references to the atmosphere of the game.
“Well, stalker, did you struggle with the Ukrainian language? Don’t you understand anything? Listen to me carefully. If you are sent to the Zone, surrender yourself as a prisoner. There are only pluses. Not only will the bloodsuckers not be tortured, but you will also be able to learn Ukrainian. Think!” , – says the video.
This creative appeal went viral on social media. It is actively discussed by users who note not only the original presentation, but also the effectiveness of such communication. The state initiative “I want to live” was created to help Russian soldiers who do not want to participate in the war to find a safe way to surrender to Ukrainian troops. According to the project, as of May 2024, 260 Russian soldiers have surrendered, and about 400 more are waiting for the opportunity to do so.
