Chernivtsi declares Day of Mourning for those killed in Russian attack

In Chernivtsi, in connection with the night rocket attack by Russia, July 13 was declared the Day of mourning for the dead. The victims are provided with medical and psychological assistance, and the city has mobilized all services to eliminate the consequences of the impact. About this informs City Mayor Roman Klichuk.

“This morning brought us pain and losses. The enemy attacked with drones and a rocket. Two people died. My sincere condolences to the family and friends. We are all going through this tragedy together.” – says the message.

As a result of the shelling, two people died, 14 more were injured. Residential buildings, shops, administrative buildings and motor vehicles were damaged. Some of the destroyed structures were inoperable, but the impact caused fires at three locations, all of which were promptly extinguished.

All public events were canceled in the city, and the authorities focused on helping the victims. For those who are left without a home or need temporary shelter, resettlement to a dormitory is organized. People are provided with food, water, and hygiene products, as well as professional support from doctors and psychologists.

The Mayor of Chernivtsi, Roman Klichuk, held a meeting of the operational headquarters for liquidation of the consequences of the emergency situation. A special commission was created to examine the destroyed objects and record the damage. The police of the Chernivtsi region are documenting the consequences of the shelling, and investigative teams, explosives experts, forensic experts, rescuers and medics are working on the spot. An interdepartmental headquarters has been deployed, which coordinates the evacuation of residents from dangerous areas and the provision of first aid.
