Elon Musk has been funding the campaign against Biden for years: Reuters

For several years, billionaire Elon Musk secretly funded a conservative political group that actively criticized the current administration of US President Joe Biden. About this informs Reuters agency, citing informed sources.

According to two people familiar with the situation, Musk began his contributions to Building America’s Future as far back as 2022. His donations, which amounted to several million dollars, significantly strengthened the group’s capabilities in the media space. This allowed the organization to actively promote its criticism, particularly of the Biden administration.

As Reuters notes, Musk avoided public intervention in politics for a long time and did not show open support for any of the US political parties. However, everything changed in the middle of this year, when the billionaire openly supported Donald Trump, the candidate of the Republican Party. While Musk denied any plans to fund candidates as recently as March, donations to Building America’s Future suggest he has already provided financial support to right-wing movements in the US.

Reuters interlocutors note that Musk tried to keep these donations secret. They received information about the contributions from the heads of the organization or people associated with it, as well as from one of Musk’s assistants.

Over the past two years, Building America’s Future has actively criticized the Biden administration, particularly over the issue of illegal immigration, which Musk has repeatedly commented on publicly. The organization also recently published a video in which Vice President Kamala Harris, who is Trump’s opponent in the upcoming election, was accused of “managing the invasion” of migrants across the Mexican border and supporting illegal immigrants.
