EU farmers receive hail warning system

Kisters presented the HailSens360 system in Europe, which combines real-time hail sensor data with forecasts and warnings for farmers 90 minutes ahead. About this informs e-sadownictwo.pl.

The solution includes hail sensors, hyperlocal forecasts, short-term weather warnings, and decision-making tools. In the US, this system is already actively used in such industries as insurance, agriculture and renewable energy.

The HailSens360 system became available in Europe thanks to a collaboration with Meteomatics, a Swiss provider of high-precision meteorological data. The joint initiative is aimed at overcoming the problem of limited and expensive access to weather information on the European market, which still remains fragmented, despite the efforts of the European Commission.

“Our experience in the US has shown the potential of combining precise sensors with smart software. Cooperation with Meteomatics allows us to offer the same quality in Europe.” – said Johann Jacques from the Kisters company.

The tool provides hail warnings 90 minutes before an event, provides 48-hour forecasts and helps assess the effects of severe weather. In the USA, the effectiveness of HailSens360 has already been confirmed: it allows timely protective measures to be taken at solar power plants, and insurance companies to promptly process loss cases.

“Together with Kisters, we are closing the data access gap that has long hampered the management of global risks in Europe.” Chris Rees of Meteomatics explained.
