European countries introduce a new mechanism for providing Ukraine with weapons

European countries are introducing a new mechanism for providing Ukraine with weapons aimed at financing domestic production contracts. This decision makes it possible to significantly speed up the supply of the necessary weapons, informs The Wall Street Journal.

Under this scheme, Ukraine receives direct financing for ordering weapons from its own manufacturers. European partners take over control of company verification and contract execution. This approach ensures more efficient production, because Ukrainian enterprises can quickly adapt to the needs of the Armed Forces. It also reduces dependence on Western suppliers and enables more cost-effective solutions.

Ukrainian defense companies are already actively working on the production of drones, missiles, artillery systems and howitzers. In particular, the production of “Bohdan” howitzers reached 20 units per month. The plan is to create 30,000 drones and 3,000 cruise missiles by 2025. This mechanism also allows you to avoid delays and reduce costs, because the funds go directly to Ukrainian producers, bypassing intermediaries.

In order to prevent corruption, the donor countries have introduced strict control: verification of the recipients of funds and monitoring of the execution of contracts will take place with the participation of military attachés. At the summit in Denmark, where this program was discussed, participation was confirmed by 12 countries, including Great Britain, Poland, the Baltic States and the Netherlands. Denmark has already allocated $680 million, including $400 million from frozen Russian assets, and by 2025 the total amount of funding may reach $1.4 billion.
