First UAV Operators’ School receives MoD certification

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for the first time certified a private school of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operators, which became an important step in the training of qualified military specialists. The Kyiv Global Drone Academy received an official permit under a simplified procedure, which allows not only to teach drone control, but also to provide graduates with a military specialty. This means that graduates of the academy can now serve in the army as a UAV operator, informs press service of the department.
The move was part of an experimental project approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine two weeks ago, which provides for simplified certification of private schools of drone operators. The goal of the project is to improve the quality of education and increase the number of qualified specialists in the field of unmanned technologies. From now on, private companies providing such educational services must meet the standards set by the Ministry of Defense.
The Global Drone Academy was founded in 2022 and has already graduated more than 3,700 UAV operators, including military personnel of special units of the SSO, GUR, SBU and ZSU. The school specializes in the practical training of both military and civilian personnel, providing them with the key skills needed to successfully perform tasks on the battlefield. In today’s war environment, unmanned aerial vehicles play an important role in reconnaissance, fire control and combat missions, and the demand for skilled operators is increasing.
The initiative to certify private schools like the Global Drone Academy aims to accelerate the process of training highly skilled operators, which is critical to the military’s effectiveness. After all, the lack of such specialists is one of the problems that this program aims to solve.
In addition to this initiative, Ukraine continues to develop new defense technologies, such as the Palyanytsia drone missile, which has been successfully tested in combat conditions. These modern systems allow the Ukrainian armed forces to carry out precise strikes on strategic enemy targets. In addition, the Ukrainian government is working to expand the production of long-range weapons, including ballistic missiles that can strike targets at long distances, strengthening the country’s strategic autonomy.
