France is negotiating with Ukraine on the joint development of minerals for the needs of the French defense industry. This was announced by the Minister of the Armed Forces, Sebastian Lecornu, informs Franceinfo.
According to him, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, during his visit to France, offered to consider this aspect as part of his “victory plan”.
“Zelensky and his team saw that this issue of raw materials could be one of the elements of the transaction with us to create resilience. So, President Trump, he did not completely invent it, because the Ukrainians themselves did it.” – emphasized the minister.
Lecornu noted that the French defense industry will need certain “very key raw materials in our own weapons systems not next year, but for the next 30 or 40 years.”
He also emphasized that economic issues are closely related to military and strategic interests, especially in the energy sector:
“Whether we like it or not, economic issues are always intertwined with military, strategic or security issues. In any case, this is especially true of energy.”
