France called Russia’s “Easter truce” a marketing operation for Trump

France saw Russia’s announcement of an “Easter truce” as a marketing campaign aimed at US President Donald Trump. About this informs Francetvinfo.
Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barro noted that this was an attempt to reduce tensions in the context of ongoing negotiations. Barro commented on the Russian initiative, calling it a “marketing operation”. He drew attention to numerous violations by Russia, despite the fact that, in general, a certain decrease in the use of drones and long-range missiles was recorded. The minister said that the announcement of the truce on Easter was aimed at “preventing US President Donald Trump from becoming impatient”.
He emphasized that real steps towards peace should come from Russia, and reminded that more than a month has passed since Ukraine’s proposal for a ceasefire at sea, in the air and in the energy sector, which was based on the initiative of France and Great Britain.
Commenting on rumors about a possible agreement between Russia and Ukraine, which could be concluded “this week”, Barro noted that negotiations are ongoing, and their next stage will take place in London. He emphasized the importance of compromise and noted Ukraine’s readiness for a constructive approach, in particular the agreement to a 30-day general ceasefire proposed by the United States. The minister also added that now the initiative should come from Vladimir Putin, as it is Russia that should take real steps towards reaching a peace agreement.
We will remind that on April 19, Vladimir Putin announced the so-called “Easter ceasefire”, which was supposed to last from 18:00 on April 19 to 00:00 on April 21. Despite this, Russian troops continued shelling both the positions of the Armed Forces and civilian objects.
