EU and the worldUkrainian refugees

Free roaming in the European Union was extended to Ukrainian refugees

The decision that refugees from Ukraine who are under temporary protection in EU countries will be able to stay in touch for free for another year was made by the European Commission

The roaming agreement covers 22 European and 7 Ukrainian telecommunications operators. The purpose of this agreement is to ensure communication between refugees and their relatives and friends in Ukraine. Cooperation between the operators of both sides makes life easier for those who were forced to leave their homes because of the war.

Recently, Ukraine adapted its legislation in accordance with EU norms in order to integrate into the European roaming space, and on June 18, the president signed the corresponding law. Additional laws will be adopted in the coming months, after which the European Commission will assess the compliance of Ukrainian legislation, and if the assessment is positive, Ukraine will join the EU roaming space, which will provide a more stable and long-term combination for roaming.

This decision is extremely important for Ukrainian refugees, because it allows them to have an Internet connection without additional costs. In today’s world, this is vital, and such support from the EU is of great importance, because free roaming also supports the Ukrainian economy, allowing entrepreneurs and businessmen to keep in touch with partners in Europe.

This decision of the European Commission demonstrates the solidarity and support that the EU provides to Ukraine in this difficult period.
