Georgian police have completed the dispersal of protesters near the parliament building in Tbilisi

In the morning of November 30, Georgian law enforcement officers completed the dispersal of demonstrators on Rustaveli Avenue who had gathered near the parliament. The operation continued since the evening of the previous day. About this informs “News-Georgia” portal.

Protests near the parliament building in Tbilisi continued for the second night in a row. Citizens took to the streets out of outrage over Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s government plans to postpone negotiations on Georgia’s accession to the European Union until 2028.

As of this morning, the territory of Rustaveli Avenue, where thousands of protesters gathered the day before, is controlled by the forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to local media reports, the crackdown on the action was as tough as the day before. Demonstrators were detained with the use of force, as a result of which there are victims, including journalists.

“The media reports on the number of victims. Taking everything into account, the number is in the tens. Some participants of the rally were seriously injured, they had to be carried on stretchers to the “ambulance” vehicles. The cameras recorded the beating”, – the message says.

Emergency medical teams worked all night in the area of Rustaveli Avenue and Svobody Square, providing assistance to the injured. Security forces repeatedly used water cannons to disperse the demonstrators, which significantly complicated the situation at the protest site.
