Germany to supply Ukraine with air defense radars worth €340 million

The German defense concern Hensoldt AG signed a contract for the supply of modern TRML-4D and SPEXER 2000 3D MkIII radar systems to Ukraine for a total amount of 340 million euros. About this informs the press service of the company.

“Our high-performance radars are urgently needed by Ukrainian air defense. Several radars have been protecting Ukraine since the beginning of Russian aggression. The company is proud to be able to supply systems that are extremely important for the protection of citizens.” – emphasized the CEO of Hensoldt, Oliver Dörre

The TRML-4D uses advanced active phased array electronically scanned array (AESA) technology and is capable of simultaneously detecting and tracking up to 1,500 air targets within a radius of up to 250 km. According to the manufacturers, this system effectively recognizes and classifies missiles, drones, airplanes and helicopters.

SPEXER 2000 radars are designed for automatic detection of land, sea and low-flying air targets. These modules are part of the new Skyranger 30 anti-aircraft gun system developed by Rheinmetall. Hensoldt emphasized that the TRML-4D and SPEXER are also integrated into the NNbS short-range and very short-range air defense system ordered for the Bundeswehr.

It will be recalled that in December 2024, two TRML-4D radars were already transferred to Ukraine as part of Germany’s large-scale defense package, which also included IRIS-T, Leopard tanks and Patriot launchers.
