Google launches new Web Guide tool to group search results

Google Company presented a new experimental Web Guide feature that groups search results by thematic blocks instead of a traditional list of links. Built on the basis of the Gemini model, this feature is available through the Search Labs platform and is designed to improve the search for complex or multifaceted information, which usually requires the analysis of multiple sources and different perspectives.
The Web Guide structures answers by topic. For example, when asking “how to travel alone in Japan”, the user will receive separate blocks with guides, safety tips and personal stories. Google explains that this format allows you to discover more relevant content that might otherwise be overlooked in a standard search format.
The technology functions on the basis of the fan-out model, which the company already implements in AI Mode. According to Google, Web Guide performs best when handling complex queries, such as: “What are the best tools for keeping in touch with family in different time zones?”.
At the same time, more than 2 billion users have already used the “AI Overviews” function in Google search, and 100 million have used the “AI Mode” mode.
“AI review” is a response generated by artificial intelligence to a user’s query. It is available in more than 200 countries and in 40 languages, including Ukrainian. This feature currently delivers 10% more searches when activated. At the same time, he did not specify how many users choose this feature knowingly, since “AI review” is a built-in tool that cannot be turned off through the settings.
