Herasymiuk said that Ukraine has never imposed restrictions on freedom of speech during the war

Head of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting Olha Gerasimyuk stated, that during the entire period of the full-scale war, Ukraine never limited or restricted freedom of speech.

“For the entire duration of the war, from the very beginning of the full-scale invasion, the media regulator did not stop its work for a single day. We worked throughout the country in difficult circumstances. I would also like to note that despite the scale and intensity of hostilities, despite the security situation, the difficult circumstances in which Ukrainian society lives, Ukraine has never narrowed down or introduced restrictions in the sphere of freedom of speech.

She has never raised a hand on media freedom, although as everyone knows, during martial law, censorship, in principle, is a right. We work absolutely freely.” – said Gerasimyuk during the conference “Accession of Ukraine to the EU: formation of the transformational agenda”.

She also emphasized that, despite the difficult circumstances, Ukraine has not only started, but is actively implementing media reform.

In addition, Gerasimyuk emphasized that media pluralism has been preserved in Ukraine. According to her, there are currently 2,800 registered media entities in the country that own 5,840 media, including: 309 television channels, 491 radio stations, 3,752 print publications and 652 online media.
