House Democrats want to oblige Musk to take drug tests

The US Democratic Party in the House of Representatives initiates consideration of a bill that would require mandatory drug testing for Elon Musk, head of the DOGE company. About this informs Axios.
Rep. Micky Sherrill, citing a 2024 Wall Street Journal report, said Musk allegedly used illegal substances, including LSD, cocaine, ecstasy, psilocybin mushrooms and ketamine. At the same time, according to the billionaire’s lawyers, the head of DOGE “regularly and randomly passes drug tests at SpaceX and has never failed them.”
The bill, authored by Sherrill, calls for mandatory pre-employment drug testing for special government employees, as well as participation in a random testing program. In case of a positive result, the person will be suspended from working in the public service for at least one year.
“Those who have access to classified information must undergo thorough vetting, have a clear view and exercise common sense”, said the deputy.
Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, has repeatedly drawn public attention for his statements and behavior related to the topic of drugs. One of the most famous cases occurred in 2018, when he publicly used marijuana during a live interview with Joe Rogan. This caused quite a stir, especially among Tesla investors, since the company is public and marijuana is federally illegal in the US.
In addition, Musk has repeatedly joked about drug use on social networks, in particular alluding to the use of LSD and other psychedelics.
