Hungary will join the “Friends of Peace” platform initiated by China and Brazil, which is aimed at the urgent start of peace talks to end the war in Ukraine.
This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijarto, informs The Budapest Times.
“There is a large majority of countries that are in favor of peace, and Hungary is one of them. But few European countries are in this group”, — noted Sijarto.
According to him, many countries of the Global South are tired of paying a high price for the war that is going on thousands of kilometers away from them, and believe that the Western powers are only making the situation worse by making decisions that contribute to the escalation of the conflict.
Szijjarto confirmed that Hungary will join the initiative that China and Brazil are developing to implement their plan to settle the war in Ukraine. 15 countries have already joined this platform, including Turkey, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Zambia and Kenya.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China previously stated that it is working with the countries of the Global South on the creation of the “Friends of Peace” platform, which is aimed at a political settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
“Friends of Peace” aims to be an objective and rational voice and will play a constructive role in the political settlement of the Ukrainian issue.”, – the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement
