In Chernihiv Oblast, the SBI prevented the operation of a high-powered drug laboratory, the products of which were planned for the military (video)
In the course of a large-scale special operation, the State Bureau of Investigation exposed and shut down the activity of an industrial-scale drug laboratory in the Chernihiv region. The perpetrators organized production on the strictly guarded territory of a private agricultural enterprise, using specialized equipment and a large number of precursors.
According to the SDB, between May and June 2024, three hired chemists produced between 50 and 100 kg of psychotropic substances per day, including mephedrone, salts and MDMA. They planned to distribute the drugs throughout Ukraine, in particular in the frontline areas.
During the search, more than 120 kg of narcotics (over 240,000 doses) and psychotropic substances worth more than UAH 150 million were seized from the laboratory, as well as chemical equipment worth more than UAH 2 million and about 1 ton of reagents. The perpetrators also purchased tire changing equipment for the clandestine transportation of drugs.
The organizer and three chemists were detained. They face responsibility for creating a criminal organization, illegal production, storage and sale of drugs in particularly large quantities, committed by an organized group within a criminal organization.
Investigative actions are ongoing, the issue of notifying detainees of suspicion and selecting a preventive measure is being resolved. Procedural management is carried out by the Prosecutor General’s Office.
