‘In Georgia, all men with Ukrainian passports are thoroughly checked when crossing the border”: MP

In Georgia, all men with Ukrainian passports are subjected to a thorough check when crossing the border. This was reported by MP Oleksiy Honcharenko, who arrived in Georgia as an international observer for the parliamentary elections to be held on 26 October. He was appointed by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
Goncharenko said that he faced unexpected obstacles upon arrival at the airport. It turned out that the Georgian border services carry out additional checks on all men entering the country with Ukrainian passports. This means that such citizens are detained at passport control longer than other passengers and are subjected to additional screening procedures.
“I have just arrived in Georgia. I was delegated by the PACE as an international observer at the elections that will take place there tomorrow.
The adventures began at the airport. It turns out that all men with Ukrainian passports are subject to additional checks. We were held at passport control longer than other passengers,’ Goncharenko wrote on Telegram.
This practice of additional checks may indicate that Georgian border guards pay special attention to Ukrainian citizens or may be related to the current political situation.
