Israel’s largest airline suspends flights to Moscow due to Embraer plane crash

Israel’s largest airline, El Al, has temporarily suspended flights between Tel Aviv and Moscow following the December 25 crash of an Embraer plane near Aktau, Kazakhstan. About this informs The Jerusalem Post.

El Al said in a statement that flights on the Tel Aviv-Moscow route were canceled for next week “due to events in Russian airspace.” Officials attributed this to the Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash, which could have occurred due to the actions of the Russian air defense system.

The tragedy claimed the lives of 38 of the 69 people on board. The company noted that the situation will be monitored for a week, after which a decision will be made on the possible resumption of flights.

It will be recalled that on December 25, an Embraer plane flying from Baku to Grozny crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. According to one version, the disaster was caused by a surface-to-air missile launched from the territory of the Russian Federation. NATO has called for a full investigation into the causes of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash.
