Japanese company sells digital paintings created based on people’s thoughts and emotions

BWTC Metaverse Store has opened a shop in central Tokyo, where it sells digital paintings created based on people’s brain waves, thoughts and emotions. About this informsSCMP portal.

The slogan of the company – “Buying brainwaves” – attracts visitors who willingly buy these unusual works. Since its opening, it has been possible to record the “thoughts” of almost 2,000 people who thought about trains, love, the sea, animals, parents and time.

The founders of the store strive to show that brain waves can be not only an object of scientific research, but also an artistic medium. They are inspired by the opportunity to reflect what is happening in the human mind. The procedure lasts 100 seconds and costs $7. A person wears a special device, relaxes, and the system scans the brain, turning the received data into an individual digital picture.

After that, the price of the work is formed. The cost depends on three main factors: aesthetic appeal, uniqueness of data and emotional state of the participant. For example, a man’s thoughts about trams were valued at 13,900 yen, and his thoughts about food at 7,810 yen. In addition to object representations, the device also captures emotions and types of activities such as meditation, reading or concentration.

Paintings created with the help of brain waves are displayed not only in the store, but also in exhibitions in galleries and hotels in Japan and Taiwan. The organizers assure that the project arouses lively interest – paintings are actively bought, and clubs are already appearing on the Internet, where users discuss and compare their records of opinions.

As of the publication of the news, 1,853 people have already recorded brain waves for creating pictures. Delivery of works of art is carried out only on the territory of Japan.
