‘Kyiv now in a sense does not reckon with Warsaw”: Duda on the secret part of the Victory Plan
Polish President Andrzej Duda expressed displeasure that Ukraine did not provide Poland with access to classified applications of its Victory Plan, while some other partners did. In his opinion, Kyiv now “in a certain sense does not count” with Warsaw. Duda stated this in interview Radio Zet.
According to him, although Poland supports the independence of Ukraine and seeks “very friendly” relations between the countries, the current situation reflects a change in relations. He emphasized that the two countries should equally desire the development of partnership, but recently it seems that this desire is not mutual.
The Polish president noted that Warsaw can no longer provide Ukraine with the same amount of weapons as at the beginning of the war, although he believes that Kyiv should continue the fight. He also emphasized that Zelenskyi is under “pressure from donors” — countries that currently provide Ukraine with the largest military aid, which may influence his decision.
When Duda was asked if the lack of access to the applications meant that Zelensky was not taking Poland’s interests into account, he replied that it “could look that way in a sense.” According to Duda, Poland provided significant support to Ukraine, including promptly transferring weapons when necessary.
Despite the tension, when asked about his personal relationship with Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the Polish president emphasized that he considers the Ukrainian leader his friend.
We will remind that the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski, also expressed his desire to familiarize himself with the secret annexes to the Ukrainian Victory Plan. He noted that Zelensky decided not to provide these documents to partners whom he does not consider capable of “strengthening” Ukraine, which surprised the Polish side.
