Macron invited Orbán to France for talks on the war in Ukraine

French President Emmanuel Macron invited Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to Paris for talks on the war in Ukraine. Their meeting will take place on March 5. informs Telex.

Last week, representatives of 18 countries, including the French president and the British prime minister, met in London to discuss EU security issues. The summit took place against the background of the conflict between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi at the White House.

Orban did not take part in the London summit and later said that the decision was made to “continue the war in Ukraine”. The Prime Minister of Hungary sent a letter to the President of the European Council, Antonio Kosti, in which he called for direct negotiations between the EU and Russia to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine.

We will remind that at the beginning of March, Hungary blocked the project of the EU document, which provided for a new package of military aid and security guarantees for Ukraine. This decision became part of a wider disagreement among EU countries regarding the approach to support Kyiv in the conditions of war with Russia.
