Mass protests against Donald Trump’s policies are being held in the United States and other countries

In the United States, there was a large-scale wave of protests under the slogan “Hands off!”, directed against the policies of President Donald Trump and his advisor Elon Musk. Millions of Americans took to the streets in all state capitals, in front of federal institutions, congressional buildings, social welfare offices, in parks and city halls. It is reported  Reuters, Associated Press.

Organizers made key demands: stop billionaire power grabs and government corruption, reverse funding cuts to Medicaid, Social Security and other vital programs, and end attacks on immigrants, trans people and other minorities.

The protests came in response to a series of decisions by the administration — including mass layoffs among federal employees and announcements of staff cuts as part of the Trump-Musk reforms to reduce the role of government. The White House also announced an increase in tariffs on imports, raising concerns among economists and businesses. Protesters will also demand the preservation of Medicaid, which provides basic health care for low-income Americans, and oppose other regulatory initiatives of the Trump administration.

One of the organizers emphasized in a comment to the mass media:

“We’re taking to the streets to send a clear message to Trump, Musk, Republicans in Congress, and MAGA supporters that we will not allow them to interfere in our democratic lives, education, communities, and human rights.”

Previously Reuters reported, that from April 5, as part of the campaign, approximately 1,200 protest events are planned in 50 American states, as well as in six other countries around the world. These are the most massive civil disobedience actions since Trump’s re-inauguration. They are joined by representatives of the environmental movement, supporters of the Palestinian issue, LGBT+ communities, trade unions and other social groups.
