More than 18,000 new companies, mostly LLCs and public organizations, were registered in Ukraine in half a year: Opendatabot

More than 18,000 new companies were registered in Ukraine in the first half of 2024, according to data from the Unified State Register provided by Opendatabot. Kyiv became the leader in the number of new registrations.
In general, of all newly created companies, 69.5%, or about 12,000, are limited liability companies (LLCs). Public organizations came in second place, with more than 1,700 (9.7%) registered. The third position was occupied by charitable organizations, of which 1,100 (6.5%) were created.
An insignificant share of the total number of new companies is made up of farms and associations of co-owners of multi-apartment buildings (OSBB), with shares of 2.9% and 2.4%, respectively.

The leader in the number of new registrations was Kyiv, where 5,600 new companies were registered, which is 31% of the total number. Lviv region took second place with 1,400 new companies (8.2%), and Dnipropetrovsk region closes the top three with a similar number of new registrations — 1,400 (7.9%).

Last year, Ukrainians registered a record number of individual entrepreneurs (PPOs) for the last decade — 314,392. This led to a 60% increase in the number of newly created companies compared to 2022. The number of enterprises in the construction sector has increased in particular, and the field of hairdressing services has become the most popular among FOPs.
In the first quarter of 2024, 74,050 new FOPs were registered, up 33.6% from the same period last year and up 18% from 2021, before the full-scale invasion began.
At the same time, according to YouControl.Market, in the first half of 2024, the number of FOPs that ceased their activities increased by 54% compared to the first half of 2023. There was also a 15% increase in the number of companies closing down, with more than 1,500 businesses shutting down between January and June.
