NATO is testing anti-CB equipment and preparing to transfer it to Ukraine

NATO has conducted tests of systems designed to counter Russian guided glider bombs (KAB and FAB). By information the press service of the Alliance, part of these decisions will be integrated into Ukrainian air defense by the end of 2025.

The testing is being conducted within the framework of the NATO Innovation Challenge initiative, the launch of which was announced in February 2025. Three startups participate in the project: Alta Ares, Atreyd and Tytan.

We are talking not only about means of combating anti-aircraft missiles, but also about protection systems against other types of threats, in particular, attack drones of the “Shaheed” type. The participants presented various integrated solutions that were tested in the field at the DGA test site. During several days, experts evaluated the latest sensor technologies, dynamic control systems and innovative combat methods aimed at defeating both simulated and real targets.

In particular, Alta Ares presented a system capable of detecting and predicting the flight path of guided bombs. Other participants proposed a solution based on anti-aircraft drones to create a “wall of drones”.

NATO emphasized that the tests proved the effectiveness of multi-level defense and allowed to determine directions for further improvement. Some of the technologies are already at the stage of preparation for implementation. According to the Ukrainian delegation, the initial components of such air defense systems are expected to be deployed by the end of 2025.
