Odesa customs officials were found guilty of bribery for helping to avoid deportation

Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported about the suspicion of the head of one of the offices of the State Migration Service in the Odesa region and his accomplice in demanding illegal benefits. According to the investigation, the officials demanded 20,000 USD from the citizen of Moldova for influencing the decision regarding his deportation from Ukraine.
It is noted that the attackers promised the foreigner to use their connections in the State Security Service and the judicial system to ensure a positive decision in his case of forced return and ban on entry to Ukraine.
At the request of the prosecutor’s office, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of bail in the amount of 70 million hryvnias for the manager and 7 million hryvnias for his subordinate.
Currently, the issue of removing the suspects from their positions and imposing an arrest on the property seized during the searches is being resolved.
