Presidential elections have started in Poland: over 32,000 polling stations have been opened

On Sunday, May 18, at 7:00 a.m. local time (8:00 a.m. Kyiv time), voting in the next presidential election officially began in Poland. About this informs Polish Press Agency (PAP). 13 candidates are competing for the post of head of state. Polling stations across the country will be open until 9:00 p.m. Until the end of the voting, there is a regime of election silence in Poland.
The total number of citizens who have the right to vote is about 29 million. More than 32,000 polling stations on the territory of Poland, as well as 511 polling stations outside its borders, have been opened for the participation of Poles who vote from abroad.
Among the main candidates for victory are the current mayor of Warsaw, Rafal Tszaskowski, who is supported by the pro-government liberal coalition “Citizens’ Coalition”, and the head of the Institute of National Remembrance, Karol Nawrocki, who was nominated by the right-wing conservative party “Law and Justice”.
According to the latest results of sociological polls, Tshaskovskyi has the support of about 30% of voters, and Navrotskyi – about 25%. Slavomir Mentsen, who is known for his anti-Ukrainian rhetoric, is in third place in the ratings from the right-wing radical party “Confederation”.
If none of the candidates gets more than half of the votes in the first round, a second round of voting is scheduled for June 1.
