Russia uses artificial intelligence for information warfare against Ukraine: FOREIGN MINISTRY

The Russian Federation actively uses the capabilities of generative artificial intelligence to strengthen its disinformation campaigns against Ukraine. About this in interview Anton Demyokhin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for digital development, transformations and digitization, told Reuters.

“This year we see that the density of Russian cyberattacks continues, but more attention is paid to disinformation”, – said the official.

According to him, generative artificial intelligence, which Russia actively uses, allows creating and spreading disinformation narratives at a much more complex level.

Demyokhin also emphasized that new disinformation campaigns created with the help of AI are becoming increasingly difficult to detect as they are spread through social media, which increases the credibility of these misleading messages. Such actions allow Russia to influence public opinion in various countries.

According to the deputy minister, Ukraine actively monitors Russian disinformation campaigns not only within the country, but also on a global scale. Demyokhin emphasized the need for international cooperation to effectively combat such information threats.

At the same time, he noted that Ukraine also uses generative artificial intelligence, but to counter and track these disinformation attacks. Digital tools make it possible to more quickly identify the actions of Russian propaganda and find effective methods of combating it.
