Starmer announced the transition of the UK to combat readiness mode

Great Britain moves to the mode of readiness for hostilities. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Great Britain Keir Starmer, presenting the updated Strategic Defense Review of the government, informs Sky News.

Starmer emphasized that in the event of a direct threat from other armies, the most effective means of deterrence is a demonstration of readiness capable of “ensuring peace through force.” He also promised to end the “destruction of the armed forces” and build an army that would be “more integrated, better trained and more lethal than ever before”. The plan is to create a strategic reserve.

In addition, the document mentions the construction of at least six factories for the production of ammunition, the development of new long-range weapons, as well as investments in anti-aircraft and anti-missile defense systems. Starmer confirmed plans to build 12 new attack submarines – one every 18 months.

The government also plans to invest £15 billion in nuclear deterrence, which should ensure the country’s defense capability for decades to come and create thousands of new jobs.

“When we are confronted by nations with powerful armies, the best deterrent is our own preparedness. It is time to change our approaches to our security and renew our nation.” – emphasized the head of the British government.
