Sybiha explained how the ceasefire will be monitored

Ukraine will be a key party in monitoring the ceasefire as these events are taking place on its territory. At the same time, the involvement of international forces is also possible. About this stated Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga.
The minister recalled the negative experience of the “Minsk process” and numerous ceasefires, of which at least 25 were recorded:
“This experience shows that we should immediately expect provocations from the Russian side and that the Russians do not abide by their agreements. Their practice is to immediately violate these ceasefires. Therefore, we really need to have an effective mechanism of objective control.”.
Sybiga also noted that the control mechanism should include an international component:
“Here, the question is who can carry out such monitoring, because there is definitely a national component, it cannot be done without us, because it is happening on our territory. Therefore, Ukraine is decisive here in terms of control and monitoring of the observance of the ceasefire. And I have already said this, we have already begun to form a national team that will develop modalities and algorithms for ensuring this process. But there must definitely be an international component, for the objectivity of recording possible violations, provocations from the Russian side.”
Sibiga explained that Soand control mechanisms usually operate under the auspices of the UN, OSCE or other international institutions.
“At the same time, taking into account our negative experience of 2014-2022, it is necessary to carefully discuss the possibility and expediency of implementing such an international component as an element of possible monitoring of a temporary truce”, – he added.
