The Cabinet of Ministers approved a resolution that paves the way for the use of digital wallets in Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution that opens the possibility of introducing digital wallets with electronic identification (eID) in Ukraine. About this reported press service of the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

This step became the next stage of Ukraine’s integration into the single digital space of the European Union. A digital wallet is an application that will store documents, ID data, electronic signature, which can be used conveniently, easily and safely online.

Thanks to such wallets, users will be able to confirm their identity, receive government services, open bank accounts, register SIM cards or use electronic prescriptions both in Ukraine and abroad.

The resolution defines the requirements for the operation of such wallets — both Ukrainian and European — and establishes the rules of their operation in accordance with the eIDAS 2.0 standards with compliance with the requirements of security, data protection and mutual recognition of electronic identification between countries.

“This is the second step in the implementation of a digital wallet based on the European model. Testing, technical integration and launch are ahead. Together we are building a digital Europe, where Ukrainians will use Action in the EU, and Europeans will use their wallets in Ukraine.”, the ministry explained.
