On January 3, the High Anti-Corruption Court found Oleg Galchenko-Avilov, the former head of the Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office, and his accomplice Igor Osypovych guilty of inciting bribery. According to the materials, the defendants demanded a bribe for the decision to return four premium cars seized during searches (Mercedes-Benz S400 CDI, Porsche Macan GTS, Bentley Continental GT, Land Rover Range Rover) and the subsequent closure of criminal proceedings.
The verdict of the court foresees 6.5 years of imprisonment, deprivation of the right to hold positions in law enforcement bodies for 3 years, confiscation of 60,100 dollars and deprivation of the class rank of senior advisor of justice for the exposé of the General Prosecutor’s Office. Accomplice Osypovych received 6 years of imprisonment with confiscation of half of his property.
